Description
The Purest Expression of the Conero Cru
Campo San Giorgio is the result of a long research project dedicated to the Montepulciano grape. It is a single-vineyard “Cru” located in Osimo, where high-density planting and extreme selection produce a wine of extraordinary concentration and elegance. This label represents the “top of the range” for Umani Ronchi, a wine that speaks the language of the land and the sea.
Tasting Experience
Color: Deep, impenetrable ruby red.
Aroma: A sophisticated and vertical nose. It bursts with wild black cherries, blackberries, and dried roses, evolving into complex notes of leather, tobacco, and a distinct flinty minerality characteristic of the Conero limestone.
Palate: Powerful and voluminous, yet incredibly graceful. The tannins are dense and silky, weaving through a structure of vibrant acidity. The finish is endless, leaving hints of dark chocolate and balsamic herbs.
Technical Excellence
Grape: 100% Montepulciano.
Soil: Calcareous clay, which provides the wine’s signature structure and longevity.
Vinification: Fermented in stainless steel followed by a long maceration on the skins.
Maturation: It rests for 12 months in small oak barrels (barriques), followed by 12 months in large oak casks, and finally completes its journey with 8–10 months of bottle aging.
Sommelier’s Advice
Longevity: A true cellar treasure. It will evolve beautifully over the next 15 to 20 years.
Serving: Open and decant at least 2 hours before serving to unlock its full aromatic potential. Serve at 18°C.
Pairings: Perfect for “meditation” or paired with sophisticated meat dishes like Wagyu beef, slow-cooked wild boar, or extra-aged Pecorino cheeses.
Awards & Recognition
Campo San Giorgio is a perennial favorite of international critics, frequently earning 95+ points from James Suckling and the coveted “Tre Bicchieri” from Gambero Rosso. It is a benchmark for Italian wine enthusiasts.
